HD Group, Time Warner Cable, Design Systems For Red Wings

The High Definition Group of Buffalo, NY, has completed a broadcast video design/build project at Frontier Field for The Rochester Red Wings Minor league baseball team of Rochester, NY.

The HD Group was brought in to design a turnkey multi-function system that would allow the Red Wings to perform live broadcasts and provide scoreboard images inside the ballpark. It would need to utilize the existing scoreboard manufacturers’ graphics capability, and NLE video formats, plus provide replay output to the board and for the broadcast feed. The Broadcast Pix 2100 SDI switcher allows for more than enough I/O options with the breakout box, additional four input option and plenty of features like an integrated clip player, built-in Inscriber CG and built-in multi-viewer. The project required an overhaul of the current two-camera system used with the video scoreboard.

Also, a data option provides real time scores and updates to the program output. For replay the Buf Technology Sport with the T-Bar option works well for controlling slo-mo action. Four Sony DXC-D55 camera packages were added with Telemetrics camera control systems to supply video/audio and intercom signals. In addition to the control room, television and radio broadcast booths and an officials’ booth were wired for video monitoring and intercom. The finishing touch in the control room is an ergonomically designed custom console.

The Red Wings games can be seen on Time Warner SportsNet (TWSN) cable channel 26 in Rochester.
