Harris and Roundbox Do Mobile DTV OEM

CINCINNATI: Harris will be folding broadcasting software from Roundbox into its mobile DTV system, the companies said. Roundbox, a Florham, N.J. maker of mobile broadcast software said it had signed an original manufacturer agreement with Harris (NYSE: HRS), which will integrate the Roundbox product into the Harris ATSC Mobile DTV broadcast system. Commercial was described as becoming available in “mid-March.”

Roundbox software provides delivery management of ATSC information, including an on-screen programming guide. It also handles non-real time data delivery to mobile DTV devices. The company secured a $20 million Series C round of financing in December led by Montagu Newhall Associates, with additional contributions from existing investors Core Capital Partners, Polaris Venture Partners and RRE Ventures. ITOCHU Techno-Solutions Corp. also participated. Silicon Valley Bank provided venture debt financing.
