G-SAM Teams With SMPTE Conference

(October 13, 2003) Los Angeles, CA--G-SAM, a global trade association dedicated to accelerating the adoption of asset management technologies, will be expanding from its original location to the much larger convention facilities at the New York Hilton. The agreement is part of a freshly inked alliance with SMPTE.

G-SAM 2003 will now be co-located with the SMPTE Annual Technical Conference and Exhibition as its official pre-show. G-SAM 2003 will run from November 10-11, while the SMPTE show will continue from November 12-15 at the same location. The combined shows will feature a special discount for attending both shows, and there will be a single registration desk for the week's activities. In addition, there will be a joint mixer for attendees of both shows on November 11.

"This is a very logical partnership that creates a win- win for both groups," said Frederick C. Motts, executive director of SMPTE. "We are pleased to kick off a week of world-class activities in the field of broadcast engineering with G-SAM's two-day conference on digital asset management, which is increasingly becoming of vital importance to the broadcast community."

As previously announced, G-SAM 2003 will feature tracks on DAM Technology and Standards, Gaining User Acceptance, Intellectual Property Rights Management, Metadata Standards, and Managing Expectations and Growth. It will also feature keynote speeches from industry icons and G-SAM founding members, Gavin Schutz, president of SMPTE and CTO of Ascent Media Group, and Dennis Pannuto, CIO of BBDO North America. There will also be a special presentation by Matt Leibel, CEO, World Wide Retail Exchange.
