BOSTON: EditShare today announced at IBC 2009 that it has acquired Geevs and Lightworks of Hants, England. Geevs makes broadcast video servers; Lightworks, nonlinear editing platforms. Terms were undisclosed.
EditShare said the combination would create a “complementary offering” to its own product line. The company said Geevs had record sales for Q1 and Q2 of 2009. Lightworks was said to be “one of the original nonlinear digital systems and is widely used today by feature film editors including the multi-Oscar winner Thelma Schoonmaker.”
