AES Convention to Focus on Surround Sound

AES is holding a special event, "Surround Live III - Totally Surrounded" on Oct. 6, right before the convention opens Oct. 7. The symposium will be held at the Grand Ballroom in Manhattan Center Studios 311 W. 34th St. between 8th and 9th avenues. The convention will be held at the Javits Center in New York City.

Experts--including Russ Berger of Russ Berger Design Group, Dave Haydon of Outboard Electronics, TV Technology columnist Randy Hoffner of ABC Television and Jonathan Lane-Talaske of Jay Pritzer Pavillion, Millennium Park, Chicago--will discuss all aspects of 5.1 systems and related equipment. Frederick J. Ampel, founder of Technology Visions will chair the event.

A full 5.1+ channel large-scale sound system will be installed, along with a Digico console, electric reverb technology from Lexion and Shure wireless mics.
