SFA Integrates DVR into HD Explorer Set-tops
At the Western Show this week, Scientific-Atlanta debuted the latest incarnation of its Explorer cable decoder platform.

The Explorer 8000HD DVR combines a DVR with HDTV-quality audio and video. Time Warner Cable is initiating the deployment of HD/DVR set tops in its Green Bay Division, serving over 150, 000 northeast Wisconsin customers. Michael Harney, corporate senior vice president and president of Subscriber Networks, Scientific-Atlanta, said the company hopes that by combining HDTV technology and dual tuner HD-DVR capability with the future availability of HD-VOD entertainment content, the Explorer 8000HD will give cable operators "the opportunity to aggressively go after and win back satellite's best subscribers."
