Samsung Introduces New IP Set Top Box
Samsung Electronics, in cooperation with NDS, has released a new IP set top box designed for consumer access to IPTV.

The new gateway will allow broadcasters, telecommunications companies and broadband providers to use existing networks to transmit additional channels and high-definition picture quality to their viewers and customers.

"The IP-based set-top box will be the center of next generation home networking products in the digital home," said Kenneth Choi, vice president of the Samsung Electronics STB Sales and Marketing Group. "We are delighted that Samsung has partnered with NDS, a leading provider of middleware solutions, to offer an innovative IP set-top box for IPTV operators as well as broadcasters.

The box will offers an advanced electronic program guide, video on demand, digital video recorder capability and interactive games. Other features include caller ID and Dolby digital support.
