Samsung, the Korean-based electronics manufacturer, recently announced the development of a 57-inch LCD display for HDTV applications. Based on TFT LCD technology, the new display boasts native resolution of 1,920 x 1080 pixels, 8 ms response time, a 1,000:1 contrast ratio and a black luminance level below 0.5 nits.

With a wide range of LCD displays for HDTV viewing, Samsung now has products ranging from 15-inch to 57-inchs, including 40-, 46- and 54-inch panels. The company recently opened a new production facility and is working on a more advanced manufacturing line that is expected to open in 2005.
