Quantel Joins Panasonic's P2 Family
Panasonic has announced it will work UK-based Quantel to offer compatibility between Panasonic's DVCPRO Professional Plug-in ("P2") equipment line and Quantel's generationQ editing and server systems. The companies have a history of "partnering," and hope interoperability between their equipment will facilitate tapeless acquisition and editing. The P2 card is compatible with standard PCMCIA slots for immediate editing.

"The transfer of raw material from the acquisition device into the server environment has been the stumbling block, or 'bottle-neck' of the process. Panasonic's P2 card simply eliminates it," said Quantel Executive Chairman Richard Taylor.
