Pace Releases 550 HD Cable Gateway
Pace Micro Technology recently unveiled its Pace 550 HD, an advanced home gateway that is part of the Pace 500 series of products for U.S. cable networks.

The Pace 550 HD works for SD and HD (480i, 480p, 720p and 1080i output resolutions), and supports HD video and graphics scaling for on-screen guides. It is also able to scale content to fit 4:3 and 16:9 displays, thus minimizing the use of letterbox and pillarbox bars. It also includes security measures such as DVI 1.0 and IEEE 1394 secure digital connections. The unit's hardware and software architecture has been designed to enable the secure delivery of SD and HD content.

Other features of the Pace 550 HD include:

* Component video out (YPbPr)
* 5.1 Dolby Digital SPDIF RCA output and S/PDIF optical output
* USB host support
* High-speed DAVIC cable modem
* Macrovision 7.01
