Gefen Extends Reach of HDTV
A new product from Gefen just made sending HD around a facility a little easier. The company's new HDTV Extender uses Category-5 cabling, commonly used by computer networks, to send full-resolution HD signals for up to 150 feet.

The HDTV Extender has two versions: a DVI (digital video interface) model for professional applications and an HDMI (high-definition multimedia interface) model for consumers. Both use a digital format to send uncompressed HD images and 5.1 surround sound. The HDTV Extender consists of a transmitter and receiver, each with its own external 5 V power supply.
