Gefen Extends FireWire
Gefen will introduce the FireWire Extender 800 at NAB2005.

FireWire Extender 800 extends computer-generated video for remote powered performance by using a sender and receiver system that connects the local computer to the remote device with multimode fiber optic cables. It sends large amounts of data at rates up to 800 MBps, enabling equipment to operate as if connected locally when anywhere within a 300-foot (100 meter) distance from the source.

"Without this type of system, FireWire can only be extended about 15 feet without seeing some type of degradation, either in time lag or video image," said Hagai Gefen, president of Gefen.

Gefen will be in Booth SL501.
