Blackmagic Joins Ross’ openGear Platform
Blackmagic Design, maker of a wide variety of video editing products, converters and routers, has joined the Ross Video openGear platform with eight new converters, introduced at the 2009 NAB Show and shipping in July, that support openGear.

openGear is an open-architecture, 2 RU modular frame system supported Ross and more than 20 other terminal equipment manufacturers. It lets users pick technology from a wide range of manufacturers’ products to meet their needs.

The Ross DashBoard Remote Control and Monitoring System and companion SNMP plug-in enables unified control over all openGear cards in a system as well as for openGear to tie in with third-party SNMP based systems.

“We are excited to be part of the openGear platform,” said Blackmagic Design CEO Grant Petty. “Our hig- quality converters fully support the openGear rackframe standard, making us compatible with a wide range of third-party equipment from openGear partners worldwide.”

At the 2009 NAB Show, Blackmagic introduced 17 new products and five software upgrades, all with support for 3Gbps SDI.
