Avid Debuts Xpress DV Software
Avid is launching Avid Xpress DV software, a DV-only version of the company's editing toolset. The $695 software features OneStep color correction, real-time equal power audio dissolves, JKL trim, title rolls and crawls and real-time motion effects. Other highlights include AAF support (with forthcoming MXF support), keyframable color effects, Sorenson Squeeze 3 Lite, Boris Graffiti LTD and Sonic DVDit SE.

Not included are Avid LANshare connectivity, film support, 3D effects or DVD authoring. These features are included in the Avid Xpress Pro software. The upgrade supports additional video formats, adds 3D effects and enables 24p projects, multicamera clip grouping and the opening of projects from Avid Film Composer.

The minimum system requirements for Windows is the Windows XP operating system, 933 MHz or faster Pentium III or any Pentium 4 or M, 256MB RAM (512 recommended) and a FireWire port. For Macs, the Mac OS x 10.2.4 through 10.2.8 is required, as well as a 667 MHz or faster G4 or any G5, 256 MB RAM (512 recommended) and a FireWire port.
