Wegener to Launch New iPump Media Server at NAB

At NAB, Wegener Corp. will introduce the new Wegener iPump 562 media server, which supports bandwidth-saving features, such as MPEG-4/h.264 video compression, file-based workflows and DVB-S2 satellite demodulation.

Wegener’s new iPump 562 media server is part of the company’s end-to-end control and play-out solution that provides a cost-effective approach to supporting any multisite enterprise video project with high levels of customization per television screen. The complete solution includes Wegener’s iPump media servers, IP-based peripheral decoders and Compel network control system for live or file-based broadcasting.

Wegener will also introduce a terrestrial delivery module for its Compel network control system for managing hybrid networks. Hybrid network control provides operators seamless control over both satellite and terrestrial paths for delivery of television and radio programming.

“Our new iPump 562 MPEG-4 HD-ready media servers are a powerful complement to our Compel network control system and build upon our years of experience with file-based broadcasting products and systems,” said Ned L. Mountain, president and chief operating officer of Wegener. “Together these products enable our customers to target specific messages to multiple retail and enterprise locations.”

Also being introduced at NAB, Wegener’s new Unity 552 Enterprise Receiver, which supports MPEG-4/h.264 video decoding for SD and HD, DVB-S2 demodulation, and integrated COMPEL control. With the Unity 552, new and existing enterprise networks can explore opportunities to transition live video broadcasts from MPEG-2 to MPEG-4/h.264 video compression and upgrade to high-definition video.

Wegener will be at Booth SU7911.
