Wavexpress Launches Online Video Service

Wavexpress, a broadband technology provider, has released a version of its TVTonic software that offers interactive video channels, games, software, music and reviews downloaded to the PC from http://www.tvtonic.com/.

TVTonic pre-records video channels on the PC hard drive, providing access to full-screen DVD-quality video. Typically, online media is delivered with an on-demand stream.

TVTonic is compatible with any broadband network, as well as Wave System's Embassy security solution, and receives files delivered via broadcast, datacast and IP Multicast. The channels are encoded at 1500-1600 Kbps and allow viewers to pause, rewind, fast-forward, skip, search and zoom in or out.

TVTonic Basic is available for a 60-day trial period, after which activation will cost $1.95 per month. Subscribers can access two free channels of news and music videos. Those with a TV tuner card can also watch, record and stream live television. TVTonic Plus lets users see five subscription channels for an additional $2.00 per month -- the channels are updated daily.
