TV One to Add Edge Blending Feature to C2-7000 Series

TV One said it will add edge blending to its C2-7000 line of multiformat scaling seamless switchers by early July. The feature is offered standard with new C2-7000 units, downloadable upgrades for existing models are free.

The company said edge blending is an easy task for the C2-7000 series because, as a dual-channel unit, a video image can be sent to the unit and internally processed, divided in half with proper overlaps, and fed to two separate projectors from the two independent outputs of the C2-7000 series unit.

The images to be blended may be aligned side by side or stacked vertically for display, or multiple C2-7000 units can be added. Users can blend four images into one by using two C2-7000 units.

Images also can be aligned vertically, horizontally or both, as the units can feather any or all of the edges.

TV One says edge blending is not limited to high-resolution RGB computer images, but includes composite video, S-Video, YUV or YPbPr component video, SD-SDI, HD-SDI, DVI or other formats supported by the C2-7000 models.

Gamma correction is used to compensate for problems that result from doing edge blending between projectors. For example, an instance where a linear ramp in brightness sent to a projector may not correspond to linear brightness in the display can be corrected, resulting in a uniform image.

The edge-blending feature also can be used for other effects, such as adding a soft edge to single or dual picture-in-picture windows on each output from the C2-7000 line.
