Teranex to Introduce Compact Format Converter

At NAB2006, Teranex, a division of Silicon Optix, will unveil the Teranex 1RU, a two channel, low profile DTV format converter packed with a large array of audio and video I/O's.

The 1RU front panel consists of an array of color-coded buttons and a color LCD screen controller which doubles as a picture monitor. The front panel can also be removed for remote operation.

Applications for the 1RU include broadcast feed centers, production trucks, network operation centers, cable head-ends, and satellite uplink/downlink facilities. Video I/O's include SD/HD SDI, Component, Composite, S-Video, and DVI (up to 1080p60). The 1RU includes 16 audio channels for swapping and shuffling. Embedded audio is standard, along with Analog and AES.

1RU configurations include upconversion, downconversion, standards conversion, HD cross conversion at frame rates of 23.976, 24, 25, 29.97, 50 and 59.94. Standard features include closed caption conversion, audio processing/shuffling and frame synchronization. Standard also is FlexView, Teranex's unique aspect ratio selection that expands 4:3 material to fill the 16:9 screen without the typical distortions. The 1RU is available in both single and dual channel configurations.

This new 1RU hardware platform is based on a pair of Silicon Optix Realta HQV chips from Teranex's parent company.

Teranex will be in Booth SU4983.
