Shotoku to Launch Robotic Studio Camera Pedestal at NAB

Shotoku Broadcast Systems will show its new TRP-100 robotically controlled, next generation pedestal for such studio applications as news, sports and current affairs at NAB.

With the Shotoku TR-8T Control System, the TRP-100 pedestal allows full X, Y, and height camera movement in conjunction with conventional pan and tilt motion. The navigation system is calibrated using a target-tile placed anywhere on the studio floor.

The TRP-100 supports any camera configuration up to 220 pounds while gliding through 2.5 feet of elevation at up to 1 foot per second. The pedestal’s pneumatically balanced, three-stage height mechanism uses the same subsystem as Shotoku’s TP-80 and TP-90 pedestals.

Dual-level safety systems prevent collisions and compliment the conventional bumper system that halts the robot when any obstruction is reached. An LCD touch panel provides local information and status of the pedestal for diagnostics and configuration.

“We are bringing a revolutionary new pedestal to our customers in the U.S.,” said Naoki Ebimoto, president of Shotoku. “We’ve incorporated all the benefits of our most advanced manual pedestals into the robotic TRP-100 to furnish an intelligently designed pedestal that further extends the range of our remote camera systems.”

Shotoku Broadcast Systems will be in Booth C7515.
