SeaChange Supports Avid DNxHD

SeaChange International has announced support for the Avid DNxHD HD production codec for its broadcast play-to-air platform.

A software add-on to the SeaChange MediaClient 6000 server codec will allow users of SeaChange’s Broadcast MediaLibrary/Mediaclient storage platforms to frame-accurately ingest and natively play back HD content in the Avid DNxHD format. By adding DNxHD to its server product line, SeaChange is supporting the first codec to meet SMPTE’s VC-3 standards, which are designed to facilitate efficient encoding and exchange of HD media over an IT infrastructure.

“SeaChange’s move to support the Avid DNxHD codec is a direct result of feedback from our customers who are migrating to tapeless HD production and playout,” said Stephane Jauroyou, director of product marketing for broadcast solutions, SeaChange. “We are very pleased to be leading play-to-air server providers in offering native Avid DNxHD support and will continue to add features and functionality that make it as easy as possible for SeaChange customers to develop and expand their HD platforms.
