Quantum Unveils StorNext 3.0

Quantum Corp. has rolled out StorNext 3.0 data management software, featuring Quantum's patented data de-duplication technology. StorNext 3.0 enables LAN-based applications to access shared storage faster using clustered gateways.

The software makes the most efficient use of storage though the data de-duplication technology, reducing the overall data footprint. Dynamic resource allocation, another feature, allows users to add storage capacity or swap disk arrays while the system is active.

Introduced in 2002, StorNext is built on an open architecture supporting a range of server platforms, operating systems and storage types. The software "has been particularly successful in data-intensive environments such as rich media, government, and scientific markets," the company said.

Quantum, located in San Jose, Calif., plans to begin shipping StorNext 3.0 in the second quarter of this year.
