PESA Debuts Fiber Transmitter at IBC, Has Many European Deployments

The new PESA Cheetah V5 fiber transmitter and receiver for RGBHV debuted at IBC. The V5 module uses a standard HD-15/DVI connector to distribute video signals over single-mode fiber-optic cable. The Cheetah V5 converts RGBHV to HD-SDI at 1.485 Gbps for fiber distribution, which would then be compatible with HD-capable digital routing switchers such as the PESA Cheetah HD multirate router.

Other products featured at IBC2004 in Amsterdam include the 3 RU frame PESA Premier routing switcher that handles a variety of signal types and can be set up via Ethernet, USB or standard RS-232

The PESA line of switchers and routers are expanding into the worldwide market. Broadcasters in Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Greece, Cyprus and Albania are using the PESA line for broadcast facilities, postproduction, satellite uplink and cable TV operations. Athens-based Calavitis recently used PESA products to equip a Greek OB van for the summer Olympics.

Also, the Spanish government is installing a PESA Cheetah 768x512 router for its internal departments and agencies.
