MPEG Industry Forum to Present Master Class

The MPEG Industry Forum (MPEGIF) will host a free, full-day Master Class at IBC2007 entitled “Next Generation Television Technology and Business Models.”

Slated for Thursday, Sept. 6, from 10 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. in Room A at the RAI Convention Center, the MPEGIF Master Class will focus on how new technologies are changing the way digital television is created, compressed, stored, delivered and monetized.

MPEGIF has confirmed high-level keynote speakers and panelists from BSkyB, T-Com, Fastweb, T-Online, Virgin Media, Telecom Italia, Orange/France Telecom, IPTV Americas, Cinea, Harmonic, NagraVision, Pace, IBM, Sony, Sun, Open TV, Playboy TV, ESPN, 3Vison, ADB, Amino, Telemak and others.

Specific topics to be covered during the Master Class include “The Next Generation Television Business Models,” “Stopping the IP Pirates,” “New Video Applications and Services,” and “So Many Ecosystems – So Little Time.”

MPEGIF also will provide updates on the adoption of MPEG-4 (including MPEG-4 AVC / H.264) and the MPEGIF Logo Qualification Program. “MPEG-4 AVC / H.264 is the clear choice by operators and service providers launching next-generation video and TV services for broadcast (SD, HD), internet and mobile as well as for packaged media.” said Sebastian Moeritz, president and CEO of the MPEG Industry Forum.
