Leitch Debuts New Lower-Cost Version of VelocityQ

Leitch has introduced a new lower-cost version of its VelocityQ nonlinear editing system, effectively halfing the price of the most expensive version of the editor.

VelocityQ 0x4 is a new entry-level model of VelocityQ, joining the 2x4 and 4x4 models of the editing product line. The new version uses the Quattrus board to offer fullquality playback of four streams of video -- in any combination of compressed or uncompressed -- and up to six graphics streams.

A choice of optional two-channel (Q3DX2) or four-channel (Q3DX4) 3D DVE modules gives VelocityQ 0x4 the same effects capabilities as the VelocityQ 2x4 and VelocityQ 4x4 models. These optional modules provide real-time 3D effect, including perspectives, warps and rotations -- plus real-time masks, chroma/luma keying and additional effects.

VelocityQ 0x4 is available as a boardset-and-software bundle for Windows 2000 or Windows XP workstations for $4995.
