Holophone Unveils Surround Sound Microphone

Holophone has unveiled a new version of the company's H2-PRO microphone for recording up to 7.1 channels of discrete surround sound.

The "enhanced" H2-PRO microphone acts as a single point source and can capture multiple discrete audio channels in one unit. Eight XLR mic connectors are provided for output and the device is compatible with all surround-sound encoding and playback formats, including Dolby, DTS, IMAX and others. The mic weighs approximately three pounds and is designed for outdoor environments. An upgrade program is available for current H2-PRO mic owners.

"We are thrilled to be launching our enhanced microphone," said Jonathan Godfrey, CEO of Holophone. "One unit is usually all that is required to capture the ambience of any event or venue and deliver that 'being there' experience to the viewer."

Holophone also said it will donate $500 from the proceeds of each new H2-PRO mic sold to ONE, a charitable organization involved in the fight against world poverty and disease.
