Harris Upgrades Nexio AMP

Harris Corp. is now delivering Version 2.0 of its Nexio AMP video file server.

The upgraded device was first shown at IBC 2008.

According to Harris, the product boasts a number of improvements and new features, including a greatly increased storage capacity, more ingest/playout channels and lower operating costs.

“Version 2.0 of our Nexio AMP server platform provides the high-performance, power and flexibility that is essential to broadcasters, regardless of where they reside on the SD-HD continuum,” said Tim Thorsteinson, Harris Broadcast Communications president. “The new file-based workflow enhancements, integrated media applications, increased processing power and I/O density not only exceed the capabilities of competing servers, but also help ease many of the operational challenges faced by today’s broadcaster.”

The new product sports 450 GB drives, an “in-server” video encoder for creating low-res proxy clips in tandem with high-resolution content being ingested, a multiviewer application and an expanded timecode capability.

Other enhancements in the Version 2.0 Nexio AMP include support for the Panasonic AVC-Intra format, MXF file exchange improvements, GXF file support and enhanced AFD support, including user control of AFD metadata handling.
