Crystal Vision Introduces Upgrades and New Products

Crystal Vision will showcase two new chroma-keyers and a new downconverter at IBC2007.

The new Safire HD 2 chroma-keyer offers more features than Safir HD 1 and at a reduced price. These features include more tolerance to “difficult colors” in the foreground (like a blue shirt in front of a blue screen), accomplished by providing two sets of hue and acceptance angle controls, plus enhanced shadow processing.

The Safire SD 2 is Crystal Vision’s new standard definition chroma-keyer, which offers an easy upgrade path to HD for broadcast engineers. Using the same hardware platform as Safire HD 2, its operation is restricted to SD until the customer upgrades to full HD operation by swapping the module’s daughter board for a new one. The upgrade cost is the difference in price plus a small administrative fee.

Crystal Vision’s also will be showing the Q-Down broadcast downconverter and distribution amplifier, which has a processing delay of just 16 lines. Q-Down is available in two versions. The single slot high Q-Down123 gives two reclocked input loop-throughs of the HD or SD input. The double-decker Q-Down183 gives eight loop-throughs. Q-Down includes an aspect ratio converter.

Crystal Vision will be in Stand 2.201.
