Blackmagic Design Intros New DeckLink Product

Blackmagic Design recently announced that it is replacing its DeckLink HD Extreme with a new and more powerful version of the computer capture card. The new device possesses all of the features of earlier cards and now adds dual link 3 Gbps capability, as well as a built-in downconverter that allows simultaneous SD and HD playback.

The improved product was introduced at this week’s Broadcast Video Expo in London. Blackmagic says that the changes to the DeckLink HD Extreme allow it to switch to full resolution 2K editing for feature film work. The company claims that it’s the first product to combine dual link 3 Gbps operation with SDI, HDMI and analog component video (NTSC, PAL and S-Video) capture and playback, along with hardware downconversion.

The card also features both balanced and unbalanced audio connections, allowing it to be used with virtually all video devices.
