Band Pro Debuts New Zeiss DigiDiopter

Band Pro has announced the launch of the Carl Zeiss +0.5 DigiDiopter, joining its existing line of HD-quality DigiDiopters available in +1 and +2 magnifications.

DigiDiopters are designed to work in conjunction with Zeiss DigiPime and DigiZoom series lenses, as well as other top-grade 2/3-inch HD lenses. The lens add-ons target extreme close-ups or wide angle shots with shallow depth of field and attach to the front of the lens to provide increased close-focus and magnification capability.

DigiDiopters employ a unique, achromatic dual-lens assembly to minimize color fringing and spherical aberration, which are common among traditional single lens diopters. Zeiss uses optical glass elements along with the Zeiss proprietary T* anti-reflective coating, which are also used on Zeiss DigiPrime and DigiZoom lenses to reduce light loss and flare, while improving transmission for crisp images and saturated colors and accurate blacks.

DigiDiopters weigh around 10 ounces (285g) each and can be attached to the camera lens, or to each other via a single thumbscrew. A self-centering clamping mechanism maintains a proper distance between diopter and lens and keeps them parallel to each other, ensuring optimal image quality. This puts the least amount of stress on the lens itself, while keeping the DigiDiopters securely in place. It also enables the diopters to be stacked on the front of the lens: The +0.5 can be be placed atop the +1 DigiDiopter to provide a +1.5 magnification or on top of the +2 DigiDiopter to offer +2.5 magnification, or all three may be stacked together to provide a full +3.5 magnification.
