360 Systems, known for its audio server products, has broadened its product line and released a multi-channel MPEG video server and MPEG-2 recorder/server for broadcast and video production. The Image Server 7000 can play up to six video programs and 24 audio channels at once and has to independent video input channels. The Image 2000 can play three independent video programs at once, each with four digital audio channels, and a video input is provided so recordings can be made while two video programs are playing.
Both servers share RAID configuration and supports most MPEG-2 broadcast standards for NTSC and PAL. It can operate in Main or 4:2:2 profile with data rates to 50 Mb/sec. Both I-frame and long-GOP formats are supported and other features include LTC and VITC time code, VDCP and NDCP automation control, closed captioning and P2-editing to single-frame accuracy.
The Image Server 7000 has two internal drives that have up to 2.5 TB of storage (300 hours video), while the Image Server 2000's internal drives have 1 TB of program storage (128 hours video). The 7000 is priced at $24,000 with six video outputs and two inputs and the 2000 will retail at around $10,000-both should be available in June 2003.
