YES Installs Calrec Consoles
January 20, 2010
New Orleans-based YES Productions, and its parent organization, WYES-TV, have recently purchased two Calrec Audio products for mobile production and broadcast studio applications. A Calrec Sigma has been installed in the organization’s HD-1 truck and the studio received a Zeta model. The acquisitions make the PBS member station and its production arm an all-Calrec entity, with a total of three Calrec consoles now in use.
“When I have a console bouncing down the highway in a mobile unit, it needs to be reliable because I can't afford problems,” said Jim Moriarty, vice president and general manager of YES Productions. “Having Calrec consoles in place is a load off my mind because I know they are going to work, and work well. To me, Calrec has earned its name recognition and reputation by building top-quality consoles and providing service to match.”
The truck received a 64-fader Sigma model, equipped with Calrec’s Bluefin high-density signal processing technology. The WYES-TV studio’s Zeta console is equipped with 24 faders, and has 108 channel processing paths. A Calrec Sigma console was previously installed in the YES HD-2 truck.
WYES-TV is a non-profit broadcaster which serves the Gulf Coast region; it’s for-profit YES Production arm was established in 1982 and provides mobile production operations for entertainment and sporting events.
