TV Skyline Selects Utah Scientific Router for 2006 World Cup Use
The German television production company, TV Skyline, has installed a Utah Scientific
UTAH-400 router in the company's newest HD mobile unit for use in coverage of the upcoming 2006 World Cup soccer competition.
"We chose the UTAH-400 mainly because of its ability to route HD, SD, and PAL signals within one frame," said Wolfgang Reeh, managing director of TV Skyline. "As a mobile television production company that must manage various types of signal formats, often simultaneously, it's important that we have that kind of flexibility in a routing system."
The UTAH-400 selected has 288 x 288 routing capacity and will be used for transmission, recording and signal distribution purposes at the World Cup event. It will be used in conjunction with the Utah Scientific SC-4 router control system.
The sporting events will take place in 12 German cities and will begin on June 9. High-definition signals from the TV Skyline remote pickup equipment will be routed to the German pay-per-view provider, Premiere, for live distribution.
