TV Azteca Using Miranda Interfacing in World Cup Coverage
Miranda announced that the company's HDV and HD-SDI interfacing products had been selected by Mexico's TV Azteca for use in connection with coverage of the 2006 FIFA World Cup soccer event in Germany.

TV Azteca is using HDV format cameras for covering the soccer matches and is relying on the Miranda technology to convert HDV to high-definition SDI signals.

"Miranda's interfacing, distribution, and processing solutions are built on exceptional technology, provide simplicity of operation, and deliver images of a very high quality," said Jorge Pickering, director of engineering of sports and special effects at TV Azteca. "We were also attracted to Miranda systems because they are well priced and backed by excellent manufacturer support."

Equipment supplied includes 20 HD-Bridge Dec+ HDV to HD-SDI interfaces, along with a number of up/down/cross converters, frame synchronizers, embedders/de-embedders and other items. This equipment is installed in the TV Azteca production and distribution facility at the International Broadcast Center in Munich. At the conclusion of the World Cup, the gear will be removed and shipped to Mexico where it will be used in connection with TV Azteca technical operations there.

TV Azteca is one of the largest producers of Spanish-language television programming in the world and operates two networks in Mexico. It provides programming to more than 300 television stations in that country.
