Scientific-Atlanta Testing Multi-Room DVR Service
Scientific-Atlanta is currently in field trials of its multi-room DVR service with Time Warner Cable in an undisclosed system. The service enables consumers to access their recorded content on multiple television sets within the home through existing in-home wiring and using existing Explorer 8300 MR-DVR digital set-tops.

The media server can be simultaneously accessed by up to three other, non-DVR Explorer digital interactive set-tops in the home by way of digital encryption and transport through existing coax. The multi-room DVR service also offers parental control capabilities to limit access to recorded programming in other rooms of the home.
