New Mexico PBS Stations Select SGL For Digital Conversion
Software Generation Ltd (SGL) of Fareham, UK, a provider of content archive and storage management software for media and entertainment, was selected by PBS station KNME-TV as part of the New Mexico Public Television Digital Conversion Project. The SGL FlashNet installation was carried out by SGL’s U.S. partner, CUC Systems.

Based at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque, KNME-TV is the oldest of a trio of PBS stations in the region using SGL FlashNet for its digital archive. The other stations are KENW (Eastern New Mexico University) in Portales, and KRWG (New Mexico State University) in Las Cruces.

“SGL FlashNet works flawlessly and is a very fine piece of software,” said Jim Gale, Director of Engineering, KNME-TV. “It allows seamless integration to the Sundance Digital automation system providing KNME-TV with a fully scalable digital archive with high levels of redundancy.”

Mickey Charles, SGL’s VP Americas added, “This KNME-TV installation further highlights SGL’s commitment to the PBS market. Integration, strong business benefits, system expansion and low cost of ownership are the focal issues for broadcasters and these points are integral to this installation.”

SGL is a privately held archive management software company. Its flagship FlashNet product is installed in more than 4,500 customer sites worldwide.
