LG Sets To Use Gemstar IPG
Gemstar-TV Guide International and LG Electronics signed a multi-year agreement, under which LG licensed the right to incorporate TV Guide On Screen, Gemstar-TV Guide's interactive program guide (IPG) for consumer electronics, into digital television equipment. TV Guide On Screen features interactive on-screen program listings from TV Guide that enable viewers to navigate, sort, select and schedule television programming for viewing and recording.

Under the agreement, the licensed products include LG-brand integrated digital sets, DVRs and DVD recorders sold in North America. Some HDTV equipment sold under LG's Zenith brand also is covered by the license agreement. Among the first to incorporate TV Guide On Screen will be an HDTV DVR and a 60-inch rear-projection LCD integrated HDTV with DVR, both of which appeared at the CES 2004 in Las Vegas. LG Electronics will pay license fees to Gemstar-TV Guide based on the number of units sold that include the licensed technology.
