Florida Station Initiates Local HD Newscasts With Ikegami Cameras
WINK-TV (Ft. Meyers, Fla.) has started telecasting its local newscasts in high definition. The CBS affiliate rebuilt its entire technical infrastructure for HD and has selected Ikegami
HDK-790EXIII HD cameras for studio origination.
“Having Ikegami cameras in our studio was very important to us as we planned our switchover to HD,” said Keith Stuhlmann, WINK-TV’s director of engineering. “We were determined to be first with an HD local newscast in our market, but we weren’t going to cut corners to get there; you need great cameras. WINK always buys top-of-the-line, and we wanted to continue getting the excellent service that we always got with our Ikegami HK-343s.”
WINK-TV began operations in 1954 and was the first television station to take to the air in the southwest Florida market. Four of the HDK-790EXIII cameras were purchased by the station in its high-definition conversion program.
