Editware, Omneon Team Up on Fastrack
Grass Valley, Calif-based Editware has developed a customized control protocol that allows its new Fastrack media controller to edit source material on Omneon's multi-channel video servers.

The first installation of the Fastrack media controller and video server is at Prime TV, Australia's largest regional broadcaster, which has affiliates in New South Wales, Victoria and the Australian Gold Coast. Editware's Australian representatives, Gencom Technology, worked with Omneon to integrate Fastrack with Omneon and other post production equipment at Prime TV.

Omneon supports multiple data types combined with device control from the Fastrack editor, which lets customers work in a range of formats in real time, including 601, DV, MPEG or HDCAM. Fastrack acts as a linear editing system, offering immediate access to any frame of any server resident source clip and inserts, deletes or changes material on a server-based timeline or playlist through a user interface.
