Dish, NBC Team Up for HD and Interactive Winter Games
EchoStar's Dish Network is partnering with NBC Olympics to offer NBC Interactive TV (ITV) mosaic, a multiple picture-in-picture showcase allowing viewers to watch six channels on a single TV screen at the same time.

New to this year's mosaic is the "NBC Olympics Showcase," which provides viewers with access to information such as medal counts, updated television listings and select athlete biographies. Dish also said it will broadcast the NBC Olympics coverage in HD to all Dish HD network viewers.

Dish Network customers can view five NBC Universal networks simultaneously, three of which will broadcast NBC's Olympic coverage from Feb. 10 to Feb. 26. A sixth screen will show NBC's Daily Olympic Highlights, as well as previews of upcoming Olympic events.

"NBC Universal is excited to partner with EchoStar to offer the 2006 Winter Olympics," said NBC Universal Cable's David Zaslav. "Our unprecedented cable coverage this year will provide viewers with a more extensive and interactive Olympics experience including up-to-the-minute updates and medal count."

Viewers can access the NBC mosaic or the NBC Olympics Showcase through "Dish Home" on Ch. 100, or by selecting a trigger that will appear on the NBC Showcase commercial.

OpenTV built the mosaic and Pixel Play created the NBC Olympics Showcase Enhanced TV application.
