AP Launches Online Olympics News Service
The Associated Press has launched an online news service providing preview and in-event coverage at the 2004 Summer Games in Athens.

AP Summer Games Online presents news, photos, schedules and interactive features and photo galleries that will be used by broadcasters and news Web sites.

"We've launched AP Summer Games Online to make it easier for subscribing sites to add Olympics coverage," said Tom Slaughter, vice president of AP's New Media Markets division.

Slaughter said the service--delivering pre-event coverage from Athens--includes preview stories and multimedia packages about the facilities, security and qualifying rounds.

AP Summer Games Online will provide event coverage with news and headlines linking to photos, features and audio reports before and after events. Users will also be able to see results tables for all events.
