Crystal Vision to Introduce HD and SD Products
At NAB2007, U.K.-based Crystal Vision will launch Safire HD 2, its latest high-definition chroma-key. Features include new processing for more tolerance to "difficult colors" in the foreground, such as a blue shirt in front of a blue screen, plus enhanced shadow processing for natural-looking shadows.

The company will also showcase Q-Down, a flexible broadcast downconverter with a short processing delay (16 lines), ideal for studios and control rooms migrating to HD and designed to be used as both a downconverter and distribution amplifier. It's available in two versions--the single-slot high Q-Down123 gives two reclocked input loop-throughs, and the "double decker" Q-Down183 provides eight loop-throughs.

Crystal Vision will launch two new up/down/crossconverters, offering conversions of standard-definition to 720p and 1080i at 50 Hz and 59.94 Hz, downconversions of 720p and 1080i to SD at 50 Hz and 59.94 Hz, and crossconversions of 720p to 1080i and 1080i to 720p.

The company will also highlight two HD synchronizers. SYN HD, primarily designed for applications without embedded audio, can correct any timing problems with its two operational modes. The second new synchronizer, SYNNER HD, features a video synchronizer, tracking audio delay, embedder/de-embedder and audio processor.

Crystal Vision is also introducing the flexible ARC-10MC 10-bit SDI aspect ratio converter, performing the six most popular fixed conversions. Also on tap for NAB2007 is the SYNNER-E, a new combined synchronizer, tracking audio delay and embedder, which allows a mixture of Dolby E and standard AES within a single audio group. In addition, Crystal Vision has also upgraded its range of ADDEC 12-bit decoding converters to now include an RGB input.
