Recognition Honors 10 Years of Shared Storage Innovations that Have Revolutionized Media and Entertainment Production Workflows

TEWKSBURY, MA, January 13, 2010 – Avid® today announced that it received the Visionary Media and Entertainment Company award at the 2010 Storage Visions Conference. Avid was honored for its long history of innovation in the field of shared storage, which has empowered media and entertainment organizations to dramatically improve production workflows and work more efficiently and creatively. Winners were announced during a special ceremony at the conference on Tuesday, January 5, 2010, in Las Vegas.

Avid revolutionized production workflows for broadcast and post production with the introduction of Avid MediaShare in 1995, and later Avid Unity™ MediaNetwork (Unity Medianet) in 1999—the first solution in the Avid Unity storage family, and the first solution to offer true network-based collaboration to the world of digital media production. Avid later took the concept of virtualized storage to new heights with the introduction of Avid Unity ISIS®, which enables customers to reduce overhead by consolidating multiple islands of storage with a single high capacity, highly scalable and open system. Today, Avid Unity MediaNetwork has more than 6000 installations worldwide, and Avid Unity ISIS has shipped 20+ Petabytes of data to more than 650 installations.

The Storage Visions Awards honor visionary products and companies advancing storage technologies and the digital content value chain. The Company Visionary award is presented to organizations in four categories – mobile consumer electronics, home consumer electronics, media and entertainment, and services and support – that have shown extraordinary dedication in advancing the state of the art in storage technologies utilized in consumer electronics, the media and entertainment industries, and to the service firms that support those businesses.
