New tape-based and disk-based EditShare Ark systems enable EditShare users to move backup media to lower cost storage and create long-term archives; ability to turn Ark into an EditShare shared storage system.
Amsterdam, September 10, 2009 -- EditShare®, the technology leader in cross-platform collaborative editing and shared media storage systems, released at IBC 2009 (stand 7.D22) two new EditShare Ark models for creating media backups and archives; Ark Tape and Ark Disk. Ark Tape and Ark Disk are workflow engineered to automate file migration to and from the award-winning EditShare shared storage solutions. Because Ark solutions automatically communicate with EditShare shared storage solutions, media spaces, project spaces and other important data structures are seamlessly exchanged between systems. In the event of a system failure, EditShare Ark Disk can be configured to operate as an EditShare shared storage system.
"By effectively leveraging backup across tape and disk options, companies can increase the throughput and reliability of their disaster recovery infrastructure at a reasonable cost," comments Tara Montford, Managing Director, EditShare EMEA. "A multi-purpose solution, Ark can serve facilities as a long-term media archive or temporary backup to clear space on an EditShare for an incoming production while still maintaining an online presence for approval. The added protection of turning your Ark Disk system into an EditShare shared storage system is a key differentiator and significant value add for protecting your media."
EditShare Ark allows EditShare users to create safety backups during the editing process, move media to lower-cost storage when a project must be put on hold or while it awaits approval, and create long-term archiving of entire projects or selected media spaces. The EditShare Ark Disk systems have the option of being activated in an emergency as a "lower-bandwidth EditShare server" to minimize downtime.
EditShare Ark Feature Highlights
