LAS VEGAS — April 20, 2009 — Sonnet Technologies today announced the Fusion™ R400P four-drive RAID SATA rackmount storage system, an economical and easy-to-deploy solution for flexible, high-performance storage in studio, control room, and mobile installations. Available in configurations from 0TB to 6TB, Fusion R400P features a fast eSATA interface with an integrated port multiplier for single cable to host connectivity, and high performance, low noise fans that make it suitable for use in noise-sensitive environments.

Based on Sonnet's award-winning Fusion R400Q quad interface storage system, the Fusion R400P sets up quickly and supports simple software-configured storage according to the user's needs: RAID 0 storage for speed (up to 220 MB/sec with four drives), RAID 1 for redundancy, and JBOD for audio editing and archiving. The unit's fast eSATA interface offers a significant improvement in data transfer speeds when compared with FireWire® 800, FireWire 400, or USB connections.

When used along with a high performance SATA controller card, such as Sonnet's Tempo™ SATA E4P, Tempo SATA X4P, or Tempo SATA Pro ExpressCard/34, the Fusion R400P can support multiple streams of ProRes HD video. Requiring only a single eSATA cable connection to the host controller via an integrated port multiplier, the 1U Fusion R400P SATA drive enclosure installs quickly and cleanly in most racks and serves as an attractive low-profile unit when used on the desktop. The included Sonnet eSATA cable locks to prevent accidental disconnection.

Whether purchased without drives or purchased with drives from Sonnet, the Fusion R400P is ideal for users looking to make a controlled investment in RAID storage. The Fusion R400P's interchangeable drive trays, also available separately, are compatible with all Fusion desktop and rackmount storage systems, with the exception of the Fusion DX and RX families. As a result, owners of multiple Fusion systems have the flexibility to move drives among their storage enclosures.

This newest addition to the Fusion family is platform-independent and thus compatible with Mac OS®, Windows®, and Linux systems. Customers working with Mac OS X enjoy the added convenience of being able to swap drives in and out of the Fusion R400P enclosure without shutting down the computer.

Fusion R400P storage systems will ship in late April with the following suggested retail prices: Fusion R400P (0TB) at $599, Fusion R400P (2TB) at $1,235, Fusion R400P (3TB) at $1,475, Fusion R400P (4TB) at $1,715, and Fusion R400P (6TB) at $1,875. More information about the Fusion R400P is available at www.sonnettech.com/product/fusionr400p.html.
