Industry Veterans to Lend Thought Leadership and Experience to GSA Council

SAN JOSE, Calif. (October 7, 2008) – The Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) announces the additions of Dr. Yannick Levy, founder and chief executive officer, DiBcom, and Dr. Horst Gant, vice president, Infineon Technologies AG to its Europe, Middle East, Africa (EMEA) Leadership Council. The council, comprised of executives from leading semiconductor companies throughout Europe and the Middle East, serves as advisors to the GSA board of directors on global and regional issues. The council focuses on defining GSA's EMEA strategy and identifying what support EMEA companies need including additional tools and resources, as well as activities in the region.

Dr. Levy founded DiBcom, a fabless semiconductor company that designs high-performance chipsets for mobile TV applications, in June 2000. Prior to DiBcom, Levy worked in the R&D group of Sagem Telecommunications, and participated in the Société Européenne des Satellites (SES), where he developed a unified specification for a satellite interactive terminal in partnership with the European Space Agency.

“It is a pleasure to have DiBcom join the effort of other semiconductor companies in Europe to develop a more active entrepreneurial ecosystem here, where engineering talents are excellent and the Venture Capital industry now better understands the returns and the challenges that this industry can offer,” says Yannick Levy.

Dr. Gant has worked at Infineon for over 20 years, held multiple management positions at different Infineon sites and is currently leading the IFX production partner management organization.

“I’m very much looking forward to working together with the GSA and contributing Infineon’s expertise and knowledge to the EMEA Leadership Council,” said Dr. Horst Gant, vice president Infineon Technologies. “I trust that the Council will support EMEA companies with its decisions and advices and generally help to accelerate the growth of the global semiconductor industry.”

“Both Mr. Levy and Dr. Gant bring unique expertise and representation from France and further leadership within Germany to the Council,” said Jodi Shelton, GSA co-founder and executive director. “I look forward to the insight and leadership supporting opportunities in wireless, automotive and analog, which are a few of the key areas that this impressive group of executives is already addressing for EMEA.”

 David Baillie, chief executive officer, CamSemi, and GSA EMEA Leadership Council chairman
