Increased HD Input for Indigo AV Mixer

Thomson, leading producer of digital video technologies, made a product announcement at last week’s InfoComm 2008 in Las Vegas. The Thomson Grass Valley Indigo AV Mixer is now available with the option for users to increase source input to a maximum of eight HD-SDI signals.
The switcher will be able to accept up to eight HD devices for realtime mixing with the recent expansion, including media players, cameras and the like, pushing the envelope for production innovation and development capability.
The Indigo HD-SDI expansion will also permit two outputs to be utilized as auxiliary outputs. Similar to the switcher panel SD auxiliaries, the HD outputs are treated as completely separate, single feed auxiliary outputs.
“We developed the Indigo switcher to give the professional AV community unprecedented functionality and uncompromised quality at an affordable price,” remarked Jeff Rosica, Senior Vice President of Thomsons Broadcast & Professional Solutions, Systems division. “We are listening to requests from our user base and continuing to add the facilities they need. This new option is typical of that process: people told us that HD is now common and they needed to bring in more sources.”
The Indigo AV Mixer also employs internal seamless technology, permitting a variety of input source resolutions to be formatted and mixed. It accepts an array of inputs, including any mix of analog, digital, SD, HD, video and audio, as well as high-resolution computer inputs.
Outputs are available in various formats simultaneously, such as projectors, digital recording, DVI and SD-SDI and for direct control of displays, making Indigo the ideal choice for a variety of AV productions.
The Indigo AV Mixer functions similar to a broadcast production switcher, featuring input color correction, digital video effects (DVE), E-MEM effects memory, layering of picture-in-picture elements through the use of keyers and dissolves and wipes between computer graphics sources like PowerPoint, no matter the input resolution.
The audio mixer component complements the video switcher with automatic audio delay for video processing, and motorized faders that match picture selection with audio-follow-video.
The increasing complexity of multimedia presentations and live events in today’s content-heavy world is eased with Thomson Grass Valley’s integrated systems, by handling more sources, such as full motion, high-definition (HD-SDI) video. Even if return on investment and usability are at stake, the Indigo AV Mixer offers audio control, video and high-res image management in one package.
