TANDBERG encoding used for IPTV launch in South America

Video headend and MPEG-4 AVC encoders from TANDBERG Television have been installed by EPM Telecommunications UNE to deploy the first IPTV service in Colombia, South America.

A major provider of Internet, VoIP and TV services to the market, EPM's new IPTV service will be part of a new triple-play package. The company will leverage TANDBERG's iPlex Video Headend Platform to provide Colombian viewers with more than 100 real-time channels and video-on-demand movies.

The iPlex Video Headend Platform includes a modular design built to offer flexibility and ease of operation for MPEG-4 AVC video compression.
