T-VIPS launches TVG415 JPEG2000 solution for SD, HD video transport

At IBC2006, T-VIPS launched the TVG415 with support for JPEG2000 contribution and distribution via IP for both SD and HD television.

The TVG415 enables broadcasters to transport compressed SD with the same quality as the TVG430 provides for HD. Both the TVG415 and TVG430 are part of the T-VIPS Video Gateway line of compact products offering real-time contribution and distribution of broadcast-quality video over IP networks.

JPEG2000 provides considerable improvement for the backhaul of professional video compared to the alternative codecs because it was designed for high-quality video for broadcast post production, which is similar network architecture to that of video backhaul.

TVG415/TVG430 features include:

  • Picture-by-picture encoding
  • 10-bit video
  • Support for a wide range of resolutions in both SD and HD
  • Flexible and powerful Forward Error Correction
  • Encoding and decoding delay less than 100ms
  • User-friendly configuration and control
