AT&T rolls out U-verse TV in Charlotte, N.C.

AT&T has launched its U-verse TV and U-verse high-speed Internet service in Charlotte, NC, the company said Nov. 24.

In 2006, the North Carolina General Assembly passed the Video Service Competition Act, which encouraged investment and competition by streamlining the process for entering the video marketplace. It was subsequently signed by Gov. Mike Easley.

According to North Carolina General Assembly Rep. Becky Carney, at the core of the bill that was enacted was the belief that eliminating barriers to competition would result in greater consumer choice and bring investment to the state. The roll-out of AT&T U-verse service in Charlotte is “exactly the sort of consumer benefit” the legislature expected, she said.
