Appear TV offers redundancy software for IP headends

Oslo, Norway-based Appear TV, a provider of next-generation headends for broadcast and IP television, is now offering a new software-based redundancy solution that automatically maximizes service levels in IP networks. The Appear TV “always-on” intelligent redundancy software module offers seamless integration between broadcast equipment and IP networks. This ensures reliability of service up-time using the minimum amount of operating resources possible.

The software solution takes a holistic view of operation and network management, thus simplifying the process, automating it and significantly reducing operational demands.

This new redundancy software module is designed to reside in the company’s existing IP cards, and complements and enhances its IP headends.

Appear TV’s approach to redundancy is also designed to provide automatic backup in case of service stream failure anywhere on an operator's network without requiring complex control software running on separate servers. The redundancy architecture handles failures on both inputs and outputs.
